Interview with Abigail Vasquez:
Tell us about yourself, including what you do and how you got there.
AV: I am Abbie. I am the Industrial Designer for Bait’D Deisgns. What I do is design, create, and build all of the jewelry inspirations like ideas from Heather (Owner of Bait’D Deisgns), ideas from us, or anywhere else they come from and build them from the ground up. I got into design completely by accident. I didn’t know that was going to happen. I got into school here in Seattle, and I didn’t know what I really had went to school for so it took me about 2 or 3 quarters before I realized what Industrial Design was and then that I even liked it and that is was a perfect natural fit for who I am as a person. I came for Arkansas to Seattle in the short sense and here I am.
When did your passion for jewelry begin?
AV: I’ve always been like the little girl attracted to like shiny and glitter and pretty. Aesthetics. I’ve always been attracted to that. I like it and I like how you feel wearing it and that it has so much meaning and so much person attached to it. Designing products for that again it’s like one of those natural inclinations that I like to do.
